Shelter Statistics

The Asilomar Report numbers and related statistics compiled for Shelter Animals Count, Maddie's Fund, and others are generated directly from our database of all dogs and cats (this report does not include other animals, TNR, or other community wellness & spay/neuter services) for a specified time period. The Live Release Rate is the percentage of dogs/cats adopted, returned to their owner, or transferred to other organizations.

Please keep in mind there is no perfect report to measure the success of a shelter. It is important to know, before looking at these reports, that every shelter may have its own definition of what is healthy, unhealthy, treatable, and manageable. Every shelter is different and those decisions are based on the resources that the particular shelter has available to them. (Guidelines for Asilomar categories can be found at Asilomar Accords).
