Volunteering

The Humane Society of Delaware County is a private organization, funded entirely through membership fees, adoption fees, bequests, and donations. In addition to a caring staff, we rely on YOU - our community volunteer task force - to maintain operations. Volunteers have a hand in all aspects of HSDC, so there's always sure to be something that sparks your interest! We have event-specific volunteer opportunities and our newest volunteer program, the Behavior Wellness Program!

How You Can Help
There are a number of volunteer opportunities at HSDC:
  • Fundraising
  • Landscaping, gardening
  • Painting
  • Carpentry
  • Clerical/office tasks, making calls
  • Maintenance
  • Dog training and grooming
  • Teaching, public relations
You can also donate time at the Humane Society answering phones, walking dogs or even playing with cats.

You can donate time from home, making calls to check on adopted pets and how they're adjusting in their new homes, requesting goods or services for upcoming fundraisers, helping announce special fundraisers, marketing, or assisting with program coordination. We encourage anyone who would like to volunteer at the Humane Society to attend a Volunteer Orientation Meeting. Come and find out what volunteering at HSDC is all about and meet others who share your interests!
